Tanzania Safari And Zanzibar tour is a good mix of Safari and holiday. Just as you’ll have spend a week on Africa’s prime national parks you go to relax on the beach. The tour picks up with a game drive in Tarangire national park.
With under 3 000 sq km, Tarangire is well known for its huge elephant herds.

Tanzania safari and Zanzibar

In Tarangire National Park, the Great Migration also takes place during the dry season. An estimate of 250 000 animals enter the park. This park lies between the meadows of Maasai Steppe and the lakes of the Great Rift valley. Tarangire river flows in the northern part of the park and is the lifeline of the national park.

Ngorongoro crater and Serengeti are probably the most visited safari destinations in Africa. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area spans vast expanses of highland plains, savanna woodlands and forests. Wildlife here coexist with the semi-nomadic Maasai pastoralists. It includes the Ngorongoro crater, the world’s largest caldera. Besides the area is significant for biodiversity conservation due to the presence of endangered species like the black rhino. Wildlife density in the region and the annual Great Migration makes the region a premium destination for Safari in Africa. Moreover archeological digs has shown evidence of human evolution in particular the early hominid footprints which dates back to 3,6 million years.

Zanzibar

Tanzania Safari And Zanzibar Tour ends in Zanzibar. You’ll probably be exhausted being on safari for a week. Head to the beach in Zanzibar. Zanzibar is unique. It is a true island paradise that has attracted thousands of couples on honey moon. Explore the tiny streets of Stone Town declared World Heritage sight in 2000. If you want a bit of more for fun head to the north. Nugwi and Kedwa has beach discos popular like any other warm parts of the world. For an even Zanzibar experience the south has a mix of island paradise and the rhythm village life. Bwejuu and Jambiani would be perfect for that all important hideout.

Overview

From Arusha this tour picks with a road-trip to Tarangire National Park. After lunch you head for afternoon game drive looking for elephants, giraffes, impalas, monkeys and occasionally the big cats. After diner you’ll go for a night game drive to see the nocturnal animals like the porcupine and the aardvark. 

The following day you are off to Lake Manyara for a village tour before you go to Lake Manyara wildlife camp. In the afternoon you head for a game drive in Lake Manyara national park. If you happen to travel between January and April you may witness the Great Migration. 

Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti national parks won’t disappoint either for game drives. wildlife density is high and the terrain is good. From Seronera airstrip you fly to Zanzibar for a 4 day stay on the Island.

Itinerary

Day 1 :
Arusha

Arrival in Arusha. You will be transferred from Kilimanjaro airport to your accommodation.

You drive to Tarangire national park in the morning arriving there by lunch time. Afternoon game drive thereafter and you break for dinner. You'll go for night game drive to lookout for nocturnal animals like the porcupine and the aardvark.

You start the day today with a visit to Mto wa Mbu town. This is a small town where 120 different tribes of Tanzania live together. Mingle with the locals and get to understand a bit of the African culture.

Proceed to Lake Manyara national park for an afternoon game drive. lookout for flamingos and other birds as well as tree climbing lions

Accommodation: Manyara wildlife camp

You head to Ngorongoro Conservation area for full day drive. You will see among other animals the endangered black rhino, hippos, wildebeest and warthogs.

Day 5 :
Ndutu

Ndutu is the area between the south-east Serengeti and the north-west Ngorongoro where they Great Migration usually happens every year during the period January to April. Enjoy off-road game drive on this part of the park.

Day 6 :
Ndutu

All day game drive today exploring the Great Migration while looking for hunting lions and cheetahs.

Off to Serengeti in the morning arriving by lunch time. Serengeti National Park has the highest concentration of big mammals. The game viewing in the afternoon usually would have good sightings of lions, leopards, cheetahs, impalas, giraffes and many more.

Day 8 :
Serengeti

All day game drives in Serengeti National Park.

Day 9 :
Zanzibar

After breakfast you get transfer to Seronera airstip. You fly to Zanzibar. In Zanzibar you will be transferred to Paradise Boutique resort for dinner.

Day 10 :
Zanzibar

Get the best of Zanzibar, explore the town enjoy the island. There is a lot of activities you can do from the lodge here. Walking, diving, fishing and a visit to the Spice fields.

Day 11 :
Zanzibar

Another day for enjoy and explore the beaches and the food markets for the exotic food here.

Head to Jozani Forest to see a rare species of the red monkey with four fingers and very long tail. Yes there is more birdlife in Jozani Forest. From the forest to the spice farm. Zanzibar's spices are very popular in the world.

Day 13 :
Zanzibar

Relax at the beach today or have more fun in Stone Town. The slave museum might be interesting history for you. Try it!

later in the day you fly to Dar es Salaam for you connecting flight.

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be ?

You don’t need to be. Anyone can go on these safari trips without any fitness requirements. The safari is done from our vehicles.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

All facilities now do have charging and electricity. Hot shower will be available.

Are there ATMs on the way?

There are ATMs in Arusha and in Zanzibar. In most lodges and hotels Master cards and Visa cards are acceptable as means of payment. You may need cash to buy from locals though.

What about internet access?

Yes. Internet can be accessed in most lodges/hotels and campsites. Sometimes, there might be some technical problems. When out on safari internet will not be available.

Is it necessary to hire Guides?

Our Tours are run by professional Guides. However once in Zanzibar you may need to find Guides depending on what activities you want to do.

How much do guides and porters cost?

Our Guides are on contracts so we would appreciate if you would tip them a minimum of $8 per day ; pay for guides in Zanzibar range from $20 to $30 per day and porters take $15 to $25 per day.
