Lower Zambezi Canoe
Lower Zambezi Canoe trip is an adventure trip right on the Zambezi river. The Zambezi river is the fourth biggest river in Africa behind the Nile rivers and the Niger river. It runs for over 2 000 km from its source in the equatorial region of Zambia. AS it flows eastwards it forms the border between Zambia and three other countries.
Down the river it forms the Lake Kariba. Lake Kariba is the largest man-made lake in Africa. Zambia and Zimbabwe share the Zambezi river for its longest part. From fishing to boating and tourism the two countries have the best relationship that goes way back in history.
The lower Zambezi national park adjacent to the Mana pools national park has the quiet, calmer and much wider Zambezi river. The flow of water allows for canoe trips that can go for days. Its more than just canoe. The region has diversity of wildlife in this primitive and isolated region. It is way off the busy roads and towns that makes it a perfect place to view wildlife in their natural state.
Accommodation is amazing on either side. The Lower Zambezi has safari lodges that wildlife roams freely in on the grounds.
Canoe trips
The canoe trips are arranged based on time you have for the holiday. In all days the team travelling with you will take care of you all the way. They set up camp where you are supposed to overnight and prepare your meals for the day. A speed boat will always be available in case of emergency and to transport you back to your lodge after the tour. A day’s canoe goes for 20 km. That also depends on how good you are on paddling down the river. Water level is general good most of the year although during the rain season the river level go get high for a few days.
