Kruger Safari Tours: South Africa’s Kruger National Park is home to the big 5 wildlife and more than 400 species of birds. Among them big birds, ostrich, kori-bustered, secretary bird and vultures. Vegetation of the park is as diverse as its fauna. There are six big rivers that flow through the park namely Sabi, Crocodile, Letaba, Olifants, Luvuvhu and Limpopo rivers. Since it lies in the lowveld, its climate is sub-tropical/tropical. Summer days are humid and hot running from September to May.

Overview

Kruger national park is one of the best in Africa for Safari. The park was established early in 1926 as a conservative park administered by the government and later extended its size to 19 000 sq km. The park is home to the big 5 wildlife namely the elephant, rhinoceros, lion, buffalo and leopard. Cheetahs, cevat cats, hyenas are some of the carnivores. The Tour has both camping and accommodation just outside the Kruger national park. The Nkambeni lodge/campsite has very good facilities to enjoy game viewing as well as entertainment from the restaurant and bar where wifi is also available in the park while the herbivores range from different species of antelopes(eland, kudus, impalas, springbok, water-bucks, nyala etc), zebra, giraffe, There are more than 400 species of birds that includes, vultures, eagles, horn-bills, weavers, stallions, and many more.

Itinerary

The sunset game drive is the most impressive as it gives you  chance to view wildlife in relaxed afternoon atmosphere as most days here are very hot. Kruger national is so huge running 360 km from the north to the south. 

The game-drives starts as soon as the gates open at sunrise until sunset. You will have an opportunity to drive through the greater part of the southern half passing by a  number of waterholes and rivers. The safari vehicles have open sides to enable better viewing and safety as well. 

The early morning tracking safari will give you an insight on how to track animals in the African bush and also get closer to wildlife on foot! You will be in the company of a ranger and guide. The walk is 3 hour long long. After the morning activity you take a drive through Mpumalanga's most photographed landscape to the Gratskop town through the 3-rondavels and the "Potholes".

Making your way out Kruger national park you will drive through the park to enjoy much more game viewing. Mpumalanga province used to be a big industrial province due to the coalfields. As you drive back to Johannesburg you can still see some of the mining that takes place.

Frequently asked Questions

How fit do I need to be to do this walking safari?

No fitness is required as most of activities will be on drives. Even for the walking safari, the walking pace will be slow.

What about battery charging and hot shower facilities?

Nkambeni safari lodge is one of the best safari camps in South Africa. For ,lodge accommodation there is hot shower and charging ports in the safari tents while for camping the ablution blocks are shared facilities. They are as well maintained. The reception area has a bar and restaurant as well as a swimming poool.

Are there ATMs on the way ?

Yes there are ATMs in the towns you pass through. Also payments at the lodge for any extra drinks and other services can be done by cards. Master cards and Visa cards are acceptable.

What about internet access?

There is wi-fi at the reception area and sold as voucher bundles.

Is it necessary to hire Guides?

All our Tours have a Guide and/driver already in the package. However should you require self-drives you have to communicate with the office for advice.

How much do guides and porters cost?

In our Tours guiding fee is already included. However you will be required to tip at least $5 per day and porters take $10 to $18 per day.
